BJP leader and former MP Dilip Ghosh on Friday said his political future would be decided by the party. Speaking during his morning walk at New Town Eco Park, he stated, “My political future will be decided by the party. It is written in God’s book. The BJP brought me in and gave me a place. I didn’t come on my own.” His remarks come amid reports of him being absent from several recent party programmes, including the welcome ceremony of new state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya.
Ghosh, a former state BJP president and national vice president, said, “The party made me state president, MLA, MP, and national leader. I didn’t ask for any of it. The party gave me a car, security. I didn’t want any of these myself. If the party now feels I should work as an ordinary worker, I will. If they call me, I go. If they don’t, I don’t.” His comments were made in response to questions about his current role in the party and future plans.
Asked if any major political move was coming, Ghosh said, “It doesn’t cost anything to imagine. Many people are doing it. Speculations have been made until the 21st. Date after date. Something is always circulating in the market. Dilip Ghosh is still in the market.” He did not confirm or deny any plans to change parties.
Clarifying his recent visit to the Jagannath Temple, Ghosh said, “The Chief Secretary had sent me a letter. I went as a respected citizen. It was a government project. But I believe my tax money went into building that temple. It is not someone’s ancestral property. Many people invite me.” His visit had drawn attention as it came at a time of his visible absence from key BJP activities.
Addressing his equation with Trinamool Congress leaders, Ghosh said, “I’ve known Kunal and Arup from long before. I still do. And I will in future too. Dilip Ghosh doesn’t think like that. Someone was an enemy yesterday, became a friend today, and might be an enemy again tomorrow — I don’t think that way. Those who do, have their own issues. I don’t have any such issues.”
